Product details

It arrived sealed inside its own architecture — a calcified chamber the ocean closed around something it could not name. The surface does not reflect light cleanly; it absorbs it, redistributes it unevenly across ridges that were never meant to be symmetrical. Three were recovered. Each carries a different pallor: one the color of cold cream, one of aged amber, one of storm-bleached bone. They do not match. They were never meant to. The Lover's Eye does not require symmetry — only proximity, and the willingness to be watched.

Lore & Provenance

The Lover's Eye tradition held that a single eye, rendered in miniature, could stand in for the whole beloved — a fragment containing the entirety of devotion. This relic inverts that logic. The pearl does not depict an eye. It became one: an organic aperture formed in darkness, sealed by pressure, recovered without explanation. It belongs to the archive not as ornament, but as evidence.

Anomalies & Forging

Each baroque pearl is formed without geometric intention, resulting in surface topography that resists repetition — ridged, folded, occasionally pitted where the nacre layered unevenly. The mixed-media setting preserves rather than corrects these anomalies. Slight asymmetry in the pendant silhouette is inherent to the forging process and constitutes part of the artifact's archival character. Three colorways exist within this release: each occupies a distinct tonal register and will not be reproduced identically.

Physical Composition

Material: Mixed-media baroque pearl pendant

Containment Protocols

Store away from direct moisture and prolonged light exposure. The nacre surface does not require chemical treatment — contact with abrasive materials will alter the surface patina in ways that cannot be reversed. Handle by the setting, not the pearl body. When not displayed, archive in a dry enclosure away from other metallic objects.

The Curator's Archive

Q: Is this artifact suitable for daily wear?
A: The pendant is constructed for deliberate, considered wear. Baroque pearl surfaces respond to environmental exposure over time — this is noted as part of the artifact's evolving character, not a defect.

Q: What is the production and shipping timeline?
A: Production: Made to order; 20–30 business days. Shipping: Ships as soon as the piece is complete.
